Full Service and Safety Inspection
Detailed Damp Report
A comprehensive and detailed damp report will be complied using a digital damp test meter and issued with an explanation and diagram of the findings. This detailed report will highlight any areas of concern and possible remedies required, and give a yearly oversight and an early warning of any future possible issues regarding damp.
Water Systems and associated appliances checks
- All systems pipework and associated appliances inspected and tested
- Operation and condition of water pump
- Operation of pressure switch and adjust if required
- Condition of water filter and housing
- Operation of taps and shower fittings (including external taps if fitted)
- Inspect overall condition of fresh and waste water pipes and fittings
- Toilet operation and condition of seals, blade and flush
- Drain plugs for seal and operation (Drain down system in winter)
Gas Supply /Appliances inspections & operational Checks
Please note
gas appliances within a caravan will have a Flame Failure Device known as FFD. The FFD is designed to shut off the gas supply should ignition fail or the flame be extinguished during use.
- Gas tightness checking for potential leaks in appliances or pipework
- Regulator date, performance, leak
- Inspect condition/date of flexible hose
- Condition/security of all pipe work
- Check for/condition of LPG sticker on gas locker
- Check gas dispersal vents
- Check operation of cooker, hob and oven. Ignition, flame, and FFD
- Check fridge ignition, FFD
and cooling
- Check operation of space heater. Ignition, flame and FFD

- Check operation and condition of external gas point if fitted

Electrical Systems Inspections 240v
- Condition of inlet plug/ hook up cable
- Operation of RCD, MCB's and earth bonding
- Wiring, sockets and fixed connections
- Operation of battery charger
- Mains operation of fridge
- Check mains operation of cooker/hob
- Operation of water heater
- Mains operation of space heater
Electrical Systems Inspections 12v
- Condition of wiring, sockets and fuses
- Operation of lights including awning light
- Blown air system
- Condition of 12N and 12S or 13pin plugs and cables
- Condition and operation of road lights and reflectors
- Functions of 12S system (charging, fridge, lights etc)
Fire and safety Inspections
- Check position and operation of smoke and CO alarm
- Condition, type and expiry date of fire extinguisher
- Condition and location of fire blanket
- Check operation, function and safety of DIY additions
Integrity and Operational Inspections
- Floor integrity and signs of delamination
- Cupboard hinges, catches, locks, stays
- Operation/condition of all window catches, stays and seals signs of water ingress
- Operation and security of all skylights signs of water ingress
- Operation of blinds and fly screens
- Fixed ventilation openings for free flow of air
General Inspections
- Security and integrity of body attachment to chassis
- Condition, integrity/security of all bodywork and panels
- Operation of door locks, catches and hinges lubricate and adjust where required
- Condition and security of all trims, inserts and sealants
- Windows and seals for damage or possible water ingress
- Security of grab handles
- Security of body attachments (ladders, aerials, cycle racks etc)

Chassis & Running Gear Service & Safety Inspection
Coupling Head
The coupling head will be fully inspected to ensure correct/ smooth operations, the following give an outline as to the process:-
- Coupling head and safety catch for wear and lubricate if required
- Check/clean pads on ball acting stabiliser
- Condition and routing of breakaway cable and clip
- Operation of overrun piston-lubricate
- Operation of jockey wheel -lubricate
- Operation of handbrake - lubricate
- Check brake rods, cables and supports
- Wheels and tyres will be removed and inspected taking note of the general condition signs of damage/cracks in the side walls etc, tread depth and age of tyre.
- We will also inspect condition of wheel nuts bolts looking for any obvious signs of wear or damage and in some instances your service engineer may suggest replacement
Brake drums will be removed during the service cleaned and inspected for warping damage or wheel bearing failure.
- Remove brake drums check bearings, seals and linings. Clean and lubricate
- Replace drum with new split pin or one shot nut and torque as required
- Adjust brakes at drum and check free play in the linkage and at handbrake
- Check operation of suspension assemblies and ATC controls
Please note "one shot nuts" & any consumable items such as grease lubricates are included in the price of service. Parts such as brake pads are chargeable items
Replacement of wheels and tyres
Once the above part of the servicing has taken place we will then replace the wheels and perform the 1st torque setting, torquing the wheel nuts/bolts to the manufacturers settings.
Once the vehicle is fully back on the ground we will perform a witnessed 2nd torque to further reduce any risk of wheel detachment.
Corner Steadies, spare wheel carrier
The final part of the Chassis service will involve the following
- Corner steadies operation looking for any signs of damage or failure and lubrication
- Check spare wheel carrier and spare tyre condition age, tread depth etc
- folding step for operation and lubricate (where fitted)
